Tools List

Kanban / Scrum Software Tools

Here is a list of software tools for agile software development teams practicing Kanban or Scrum. The tools vary widely from simple electronic project boards to full software suites for managing every aspect of agile software development. The focus of this list is replacing physical status boards and sticky notes with an electronic equivalent.

Most of these tools use the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model. There is no software to install. All you need is a browser. Some of the tools need to be installed on a server accessible to the team. While involving some extra work and complexity, this approach improves security by keeping all your information behind your firewall.

Note that some of these tools appear to have little or no security. If keeping your information secure and private is important, be sure you ask how your information will be protected.

While almost all of these tools offer starter configurations for free, those tools shown with an asterisk (*) are completely free as of the last update to this list. Two items on the list are open source tools and are labelled as such. Most of the tools are developed and supported by very small groups. No one knows what the future holds for any of them — or for your information — if they decide to close shop. Ask questions.
